Shri Asht Bhairav Darshan Yatra

Yatra Significance

वाराणस्यां भैरव: देव: संसार भयनाशनम्।
अनेक जन्म कृत पापं दर्शनेन विनश्यति।।
(भैरव रहस्य)

Bhairav Dev of Varanasi make individuals fearless of the fear of the world, and the sins committed during various births, get washed away just by pilgrimage. Due to their pilgrim-worship, disease and sins are eradicated. Sorrows and problems are removed, people get peace and prosperity and achieve happiness and eternal satisfaction.

The Origin of Bhairav:-

Once Lord Brahma passed some critical, humiliating, sarcastic remark on LORD SHIVA, This made LORD SHIVA filled with anger and the overflow of anger from the body of LORD SHIVA took the form of KAAL BHAIRAV. This over flown anger of Lord Shiva in the form of Kaal Bhairav decimated the fifth head of Brahma by the tip of his nails, but the capitulated head of Lord Brahma sticked to the finger of Kaal Bhairav. Then, Lord Shiva created a form of girl and named her Brahma Hatya (Death of Brahma) and instructed her to follow Kaal Bhairav until Kaal Bhairav enters in the city of Varanasi.

As soon as the Kaal Bhairav entered into Varanasi, the sticked head of Lord Brahma got disassociated from his finger and Kaal Bhairav got rid of the Brahma Hatya (Sin of murder of Brahm). This made Kaal Bhairav very happy and he started dancing.

The place at which the capitulated head of Brahma had fallen became “Kapaal Mochan Tirtha” and Kaal Bhairav casted his image in that pose at that place and established himself in the central region of Kashi. Lord Shiva named him Bhairav and nominated him as a Magistrate (Kotwal) of Varanasi, being nominated as the magistrate of kashi He made eight posts all these eight posts are known as different names originating from the actions made by him at those places and arranged his own magisterial system to protect and defend Kashi from all directions.

The Ashtami tithi (8th day) of Krishna Paksha (Fortnight after the full moon) of Margshish month is marked as the date of origin of Bhairav. Just a holy glimpse of the deity Bhairav of Varanasi makes people free from fear and all sins of life. The worship of Bhairav removes the illness, evil deeds and provides health, wealth and peace to the devotees. On every Sunday, and Tuesday, people come with their children to get rid of the evil eyes, totemism and evil spirit by taking Kajal, Bhabhoot and Black Thread in form of Blessing.

“Kajal” (Black Carbon) of the non stop flame of the lamp, Bhabhoot (Holy Ash), the broom of the peacock feathers and Black Thread have a great significance in the present time also. The intake of a pinch of Bhabhoot (Holy Ash) the body and spirit gets purified and gets immuned from the approach of evil spirits.

In the entire universe the administration is goverened by Lord Vishnu and the punishment code is under the control of Yamraj. But in Kashi the administration is governed by Lord Shiva and the punishment code is under the control of Bhairav and the torture of Bhairav is said to be thirty two times more than that of Yamraj, that is why Kashi is considered to be a place different from the rest of the universe.
